This policy explains what information goboilthewater.com collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. The site is run by Noah Jenks, author of Go Boil the Water. If you have questions, email noah@goboilthewater.com.
What we collect
- Your first name and email address, plus the answers you tap in the free chapter quiz (whether you're a partner, mom, midwife, or doula, where you are in the process, and what's on your mind), and the site or link that brought you here. This helps us send emails that fit you. Signups are handled by Mailchimp, our email service.
- Questionnaire answers, if you choose to share your birth story. The questionnaires run on Google Forms, and each one explains how your answers may be used before you start.
- Basic technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider (GitHub Pages) may log your IP address and browser details to keep the site secure. The site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
- Visit statistics through Google Analytics: which pages people view, how they arrived (for example from Google, ChatGPT, or Instagram), and whether they finished the free chapter quiz. We see totals, not who you are, and we never send your name or email to Google. If you're in the UK, European Union, or Switzerland, Google Analytics only sets its cookies if you choose "That's fine" in the cookie bar. If you say no, we receive only anonymous counts without cookies.
- A few small notes in your own browser: whether you've signed up or closed the free chapter popup, which link brought you here, and your cookie choice. They stay on your device.
We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell your information.
How we use it
We use your name and email address to send the free chapter, new posts, and occasional updates about the book. We use questionnaire answers to write the book, blog posts, and related materials, as described in each form. We use Google Analytics totals to see which pages help people and to improve the site.
Your choices
- Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can leave any time.
- You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing noah@goboilthewater.com.
- If you live in the UK or European Union, you have additional rights under data protection law, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Links to other sites
The site links to Amazon, Spotify, Instagram, Facebook, and other services. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
Children
This site is written for adults and isn't directed at children under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
